All About my Song ‘Different Language’ and Lyrics

It was winter and I was looking for something to watch on Netflix when I found the documentary, The Alpinist. It had adventure and something of a love story between Marc-André Leclerc and the art of freehand climbing. I was in awe of the heights he solo climbed, and by the community of freehand climbers. Specifically, I was most interested in the romance between Marc-André and his girlfriend, who was also a solo climber. It seemed like a match made in heaven with their shared love of climbing, and halfway through the documentary I stopped it to write something because I felt so inspired by their love. This is the song that came out of that.

Suffice it to say that when I turned the documentary back on, I ended up crying because it turned out Marc-André died doing what he loved. It was heartbreaking, but I was glad I stopped it to write this song because to me, this song will always be dedicated to Marc-André and his girlfriend, and all the other explorers and adventurers of the world who fall in love with one another.

Lyrics

I was thinking that there was a different way for us

I’ve never really been the type to just waste away

If we were written in the stars it would be dangerous

But you got something in your eyes that takes me fear away

You and me we speak a different language

I knew it before I knew you existed

One two three honey come with me

Mountains trees - we go where our heart leads

Open map with you in my locket

We both move across the globe like we’re comets

A B C you know what I mean

In our encyclopede I can find you under me

As a kid I was big in my heart and in my bones

People talked I was smart, not, to listen too close

I feel a pull in my chest cause we’re all so different

But you and me we’re like a simile I want to say again and again

You and me we speak a different language

I knew it before I knew you existed

One two three honey come with me

Mountains trees - we go where our heart leads

Open map with you in my locket

We both move across the globe like we’re comets

A B C you know what I mean

In our encyclopede I can find you under me

You are the sun

I am the moon

And wherever you go

I will follow you

Just like the stars

Light up the sky

You and me

We’re both electrified

You and me we speak a different language

I knew it before I knew you existed

One two three honey come with me

Mountains trees - we go where our heart leads

Open map with you in my locket

We both move across the globe like we’re comets

A B C you know what I mean

In our encyclopede I can find you under me

I can find you under me
